Tumors of nasal polyps

What does "have polyps in the nose"?

Nasal polyposis is a disease that affects the inside of the nose (and sinuses) by the growth of benign tumors that obstruct breathing.

It is a special form of sinusitis (called "polypoid sinusitis").

Sinuses

This type of tumors grow from abnormal cells inside the nasal cavity or paranasal sinuses. There are typically two types of tumors: benign and malignant. Benign tumors have better outcomes and are easier to cure. Malignant tumors are locally destructive and require medical and / or surgical treatment more complex.

Most tumors found in the nose and paranasal sinuses are benign type, the most common are cysts and polyps.

Any tumor in these regions should be analyzed carefully because of the high risk of malignancy, especially if the patient is a smoker. Treatment is in most cases with advanced endoscopic surgery.
